Alliteration poems

Teacher's note:  The poems below were written while we were studying alliteration (the repetition of the same sounds).  I want our young authors to be able to use alliteration in both their prose and their poetry, and these alliteration poems were a great way to practice the concept.   While these are very cute, a lot of learning came from doing them.  Our writers came up with an original poem, but they also learned exactly what alliteration is.  Plus, we were able to add that to our "large word vocabulary," along with onomatopoeia and others we enjoy saying and hearing.  (We love big words!)

That's Good! That's Bad!

By Hunter, Jera, and Blake C.

The little girl was going to McDonald’s. That’s good! No, that’s bad!

They were closed and the little girl cried. That’s bad! No, that’s good!

The next day they were open and she went back. That’s good! No, that’s bad!

She ordered everything on the menu. She couldn’t eat it all. That’s bad! No, that’s good!

She put the leftovers in the ice box and had them for later when she was hungry again. That’s good! No, that’s bad!

She got a stomachache. That’s bad! No, that’s good!

Then her mom cooked her homemade tomato soup and her stomach felt better. That’s good! No, that’s great!

Bad news!  My computer is broken.
Good news!  I have two computers in the house.
Bad news!  It’s covered with princesses and since I am a boy I don’t like princesses.
Good news!  The snow has melted.
Bad news!  My bike was frozen.
Good news!  I have a scooter.

That's Good! That's Bad!

By: Kayden, Jon, Blake H., and Dillon S.

The ice cream man gave a little girl a cookie dough ice cream cone for free.
That’s good!
No, that’s bad!

The little girl dropped her cookie dough ice cream cone and cried.
That’s bad!
No, that’s good!

The ice cream man gave her another one.  She ate it all.
That’s good!
No, that’s bad!

She ate too much ice cream and got sick.
That’s bad!
No, that’s good!

Her mom made her chicken noodle soup and she felt better!
That’s good!
No, that’s great!
